Bimbo Ademoye relieved as YouTube copyright dispute ends in her favour ‎

By Prosper Mene

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye has expressed immense relief and gratitude after a prolonged YouTube copyright dispute over her film Where Love Lives was resolved in her favor, restoring full control and monetization of her content.

The issue stemmed from a false copyright claim placed on a song featured in the movie by an individual identified as Emmanuel Davies. This led to the demonetization of Ademoye’s YouTube upload of the film, which had garnered significant views and popularity since its release. Ademoye had publicly called out the claimant in emotional social media posts, accusing him of piracy by uploading her movie without permission, extracting and claiming ownership of the soundtrack, and demanding the immediate reversal of the claim to avoid further action.

In a recent Instagram post, Ademoye shared her joy and relief, thanking her mother, friends, creative team, fans, and supporters who stood by her during the ordeal. She reportedly wrote sentiments along the lines of “God don’t play about me,” celebrating the victory and the removal of the false claim, which allowed her to regain full monetization and proper attribution for her work.

Where Love Lives, one of Ademoye’s YouTube releases, had achieved viral success with millions of views, underscoring her growing influence as a content creator beyond traditional cinema. The film, produced under her banner, showcases her signature storytelling style that resonates with audiences.

Fans and industry observers have praised Ademoye’s resilience in standing up against content theft and copyright abuse, a persistent challenge in Nollywood’s digital space. Many see this as a win not just for her, but for creators fighting to protect their intellectual property on platforms like YouTube.

Ademoye continues to thrive as one of Nigeria’s most prolific filmmakers and actresses, with a string of successful projects across cinema and online streaming.

The film Where Love Lives remains available on her official YouTube channel, now fully monetized and free from the disputed claim, allowing her to continue earning from her hard work and connecting with her global audience.
