‎Tiwa Savage Opens Up: Son Jamil Is Her Only True Love

By Prosper Mene

‎Nigerian music icon Tiwa Savage has shared that the only genuine love she has experienced comes from her 10-year-old son, Jamil Balogun.

‎Speaking candidly in an interview with British media personality Zeze Mills on Friday, August 8, 2025, the 45-year-old Afrobeats star reflected on her past romantic relationships, including her marriage to Tunji “TeeBillz” Balogun from 2013 to 2018, admitting they were driven by infatuation rather than true love.“I don’t think I’ve experienced true love apart from my son. Every time I look back at all my relationships, I’m like, nah, that wasn’t love. I was just infatuated. At that time, I thought I was in love,” Savage said.

‎She expressed doubts about finding a soulmate, adding, “I’ve tried repeatedly, so maybe love isn’t meant for me in this lifetime.”

‎The “Somebody’s Son” hitmaker, known for her powerful vocals and emotive performances, touched fans with her vulnerability. She described her bond with Jamil as her purest source of affection, a sentiment that resonated widely online.

‎Fans praised her honesty, with many pointing out the unmatched love of motherhood, while others expressed empathy for her romantic struggles. One social media user commented, “Baby boys will do everything to put smiles on their mothers’ faces,” referencing Jamil’s heartfelt actions after being disciplined.

‎Savage, who has gone through public scrutiny since her 2018 divorce and a 2021 leaked video scandal, also spoke of entering a “phoenix era” of reinvention. “I’ve gone through the fire, and I’m coming out stronger,” she said, signaling a focus on self-love and resilience.

‎Her candid remarks have kindled conversations about the challenges of finding authentic love in the spotlight, with Savage’s story inspiring fans to celebrate the profound bond between a mother and her child.
