Alakada GenZ Sequel Premieres Today: Toyin Abraham, Teniola Aladese & Imisi Ayanwale Lead Fresh Comedy Wave

By Prosper Mene

Nollywood is buzzing once again as comedy powerhouse Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi brings back the iconic Alakada franchise with Alakada GenZ, the highly anticipated sequel that swaps old-school hustles for digital-age drama.

Toyin Abraham reprises her breakout role as Yetunde Animashaun, the master of elaborate lies and social climbing. This time, Yetunde dives headfirst into Gen Z culture, chasing TikTok fame, faking a lavish “soft life,” and pretending to be a nepo baby in Lagos. As expected, her over-the-top schemes spiral into hilarious chaos that exposes the pressures of living a curated online lie.

Directed by Akay Mason and produced by Toyin Abraham under her Toyin Abraham Productions banner, the film blends the franchise’s signature slapstick humour with sharp, relatable commentary on modern social media life.

The cast perfectly mixes Nollywood heavyweights with fresh Gen Z talent. Alongside Toyin Abraham are Teniola Aladese, Bianca Ugowanne, Irewole Olaniyan, and Imisioluwa Opeyemi Ayanwale (popularly known as Imisi Ayanwale), the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 10. Together, they deliver non-stop laughs and timely lessons about authenticity in the age of influencers.

Alakada GenZ premiered exclusively today, Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 3 PM on the Toyin Abraham TV YouTube channel and is now available for streaming.

Fans who have followed Yetunde’s wild journey since the 2009 original  and those who fell in love with the 2024 cinema release Alakada: Bad and Boujee — are already calling this the ultimate upgrade. Toyin Abraham has been teasing the project heavily on social media, describing it as “the beginning of a new era” for the beloved character.

Set your reminders or catch the replay, grab your snacks, and prepare for another round of side-splitting comedy. Alakada GenZ is streaming exclusively on Toyin Abraham TV.
