Obsessed Ex-Boyfriend Jailed for Life After Stabbing Young UK Graduate to Death Over Ended Romance

By Prosper Mene

A 40-year-old man described by prosecutors as “obsessed” and “controlling” has been jailed for life after brutally stabbing his former partner, a promising 23-year-old psychology graduate, to death in her own home following the end of their brief relationship.

Adedapo Adegbola pleaded guilty to the murder of Stephanie Irons, known as Steph, at Nottingham Crown Court. The court heard that Adegbola, who worked as an adult support worker and had previously been a colleague of the victim, could not accept the relationship ending due to his controlling behavior.

The fatal attack occurred on the evening of October 21, 2025, at Ms. Irons’ flat in Westdale Lane West, Mapperley, Nottingham. Adegbola entered her home, reportedly after she briefly stepped out and stabbed her in the neck with a knife he had purchased days earlier from a local B&M store.

After the killing, Adegbola reportedly locked the door, took the keys, and carried out what prosecutors called a “final act of humiliation” by sending sexually explicit photographs of the victim to a work-related WhatsApp group.

Ms. Irons, described by family and friends as a “bright young star,” “beautiful,” “kind,” and “compassionate,” was a recent psychology graduate whose life was tragically cut short. The court was told the attack lasted an extended period, with the circumstances inside the flat for nearly two hours remaining unclear.

In sentencing, the judge highlighted Adegbola’s refusal to accept the breakup and his obsessive nature. He was handed a life sentence, with eligibility for parole only after serving at least 25 years.

Detectives from Nottinghamshire Police described the case as tragic, emphasizing the horrific circumstances in which a caring young woman was taken away. Adegbola sobbed in the dock before being led away to begin his sentence.

Friends and family of Ms. Irons have remembered her as someone full of potential whose life was stolen far too soon.

Aspiring Model Dies by Suicide After Husband’s Hurtful Remark

By Prosper Mene

A heartbreaking case occured and has caused discussions on emotional sensitivity, mental health, and the power of words in relationships. A 23-year-old aspiring model identified as Tannu Singh  allegedly died by suicide after being deeply upset by a derogatory comment from her husband.

The incident occurred in the Takrohi area of Indiranagar, Lucknow, around late January 2026. According to Uttar Pradesh Police and multiple media reports, Tannu was at home with her husband, Rahul Srivastava (an auto driver), and possibly her sister or sister-in-law during a casual family conversation or light-hearted banter.

During the interaction, Rahul reportedly jokingly referred to Tannu as a “monkey”, a remark that profoundly hurt her. Sources indicate Tannu was sensitive about her appearance and passionate about pursuing a career in modeling, which may have amplified the impact of the insult, perceived by her as mocking her looks or ambitions.

Tannu reportedly left the room, locked herself inside, and later took her own life by hanging. Family members discovered her unresponsive, and she was declared dead at the scene. No foul play has been suspected so far, with police classifying it as a suicide triggered by emotional distress from the remark.

Rahul has described the comment as “just a joke, nothing else,” according to statements reported in outlets like Deccan Herald and India Today. Investigations continue to understand the full circumstances, including any underlying factors in the marriage (the couple had reportedly been married for about four years following a brief affair). No formal complaint has been filed against the husband as of early February 2026.

The case has drawn attention to broader issues, including how seemingly casual insults can have devastating effects, especially amid personal insecurities or societal pressures around beauty and career aspirations in modeling. Mental health advocates emphasize the importance of empathy in relationships and recognizing signs of emotional vulnerability.

This tragedy serves as a sobering reminder that words can wound deeply, sometimes with irreversible consequences.

‎Beating a woman not excusable even if culture allows it – Emir Sanusi ‎ ‎

By Prosper Mene

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has strongly condemned domestic violence against women, declaring that no cultural justification can excuse a man beating his wife or any woman.

In a recent interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, the revered monarch and former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor emphasized that violence against women stems not from African or traditional culture, but from unequal power dynamics where men exploit authority over unprotected women.

“Violence happens in all societies. It’s not about an African culture. It’s about power relations where you have men having power, and women are not protected; men will take advantage of that power and oppress them,” Sanusi stated.

He further asserted the supremacy of fundamental human rights and Nigerian law over any customary practices that might tolerate such abuse.

“Those rights are inviolable. You cannot violate them in the name of a culture. You cannot beat a woman because your culture says you can beat her. She’s a Nigerian citizen entitled to protection. It doesn’t matter what you think because these are the values that we live by in this time,” he added.

Sanusi’s remarks highlight ongoing concerns about gender-based violence in Nigeria, including interpretations of certain customary or penal code provisions (such as Section 55 of the Northern Penal Code) that have historically been misused to permit “correction” of wives under the guise of tradition. He has previously advocated for reforms, including stiffer punishments for perpetrators and reviews of family laws to better protect women.

The Emir’s progressive stance aligns with his long-standing advocacy for women’s rights, dignity, and equality within Islamic and societal frameworks. He has repeatedly stressed that true Islamic teachings uphold women’s respect and prohibit abuse, urging leaders and communities to reject violence in all forms.

Davido Opens Up: What Chioma Told Him When He Wanted to Skip the After-Party Following Grammy Snub

By Prosper Mene

Nigerian Superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up about the heartfelt words of encouragement from his wife, Chioma Rowland Adeleke, following his loss at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards on February 1, 2026.

Davido was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category for his track “With You” (featuring Omah Lay), from his album 5IVE. The category featured strong Nigerian contenders, including Burna Boy (“Love”), Ayra Starr and Wizkid (“Gimme Dat”), but the award ultimately went to South African artist Tyla for “Push 2 Start”. This marked Davido’s second Grammy nomination without a win, continuing his pursuit of the prestigious accolade.

In a candid Instagram post shared shortly after the ceremony, Davido revealed his initial disappointment. He recounted telling Chioma, “Baby listen, we lost again, let’s not go!” — referring to skipping the after-party events. Chioma’s response shifted his perspective and highlighted her supportive role:

“She said, ‘Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. We’re outside.’”

Davido accompanied the quote with photos of the couple at the Grammys and post-event outings, captioning it with affection: “My ride or die. She dey my back, active geng.” Chioma reinforced her support in her own post, writing, “You already know that you’re the perfect one, @davido.”

The exchange quickly went viral, with fans praising Chioma’s wisdom and grace. Many described her as Davido’s emotional anchor, turning a moment of setback into one of resilience and unity. Davido also shared earlier messages of faith, posting photos with the caption “Oluwa Dey my side” (God is on my side), emphasizing gratitude despite the outcome.

The 2026 Grammys saw no Nigerian wins in key categories, causing broader discussions about African representation. However, Davido’s transparency and Chioma’s uplifting words have been celebrated as a reminder that personal strength and relationships often outweigh individual awards.

This moment underscores the couple’s strong bond, with Chioma consistently standing by Davido through career highs and lows. As one fan put it online: “Behind every successful man is a Chioma.”

‎APC 2026 Convention Committee discriminatory to women – Josef Onoh

By Prosper Mene

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has faced criticism over the composition of its 73-member Central Coordination Committee for the 2026 National Convention, with a prominent party figure accusing it of being “extremely discriminatory” toward women.

Denge Josef Onoh, Chairman of the Forum of Former Members of the Enugu State House of Assembly and former Southeast Spokesman to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, issued a statement condemning the near-total exclusion of women from the committee. He described the lineup as showing “glaring and extreme male domination,” noting that a review of the publicly released list revealed “virtually no women, or at best one or two, if any were inadvertently omitted.”

Onoh expressed disappointment despite commending the APC for its broader preparations toward the national convention, scheduled for March 25–28, 2026. The event will shape the party’s future direction, including candidate selection and policy priorities. He argued that this level of exclusion sends a troubling signal that women are being sidelined in the party’s most critical decision-making and planning structures.

The committee, constituted by the APC’s National Working Committee, is chaired by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, with Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as vice chairman and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni as secretary. It includes serving and former governors, senators, National Assembly members, and other senior party leaders from across Nigeria.

Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, fondly known as “Omosexy,” has made it clear that she will not engage in forced dance routines as a means of promoting films, emphasizing authenticity and professionalism in her career approach.

In a recent interview featured by Punch Newspapers and TVC Entertainment, the award-winning actress stated that while she enjoys dancing for fun and personal enjoyment, she draws the line at using it as a promotional tool if it feels inauthentic or pressured.

“I’m sorry, but I won’t be dancing to market or promote my movie. It’s not professional,” Omotola reportedly said. She added that she prefers to focus on traditional promotion methods, such as going around to discuss and showcase the work after putting in the effort on set.

This stance comes amid ongoing discussions in Nollywood about evolving film promotion tactics, including the popular use of viral dance challenges, skits, and social media trends to hype movies, strategies often embraced by younger stars and filmmakers.

Omotola’s comments follow her recent milestone as a director with her debut feature film, Mother’s Love, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September 2025. The film, exploring profound themes, is slated for a Lagos premiere in early 2026 ahead of a wider global release.

The actress, who has been a dominant force in Nollywood for over three decades with hundreds of films to her credit, stressed her preference for genuine engagement over performative trends that may not align with her personal or professional style.

Her opinion has sparked mixed reactions online, with fans praising her for maintaining her dignity and authenticity, while others note that dance promotions have proven effective for box-office success in recent times.

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde continues to inspire as an actress, filmmaker, and humanitarian, consistently advocating for substance over spectacle in the entertainment industry.

Alexer Pere, the estranged wife of Nigerian singer Harrison Tare Okiri, better known as Harrysong, has announced that she is temporarily giving up custody of their two young children, aged four and three.

In a tearful video shared on her Instagram story on Thursday morning, Alexer described the decision as one of the hardest she has ever made. She revealed that she has been the primary caregiver for the children since the couple’s separation two years ago, handling their schooling and daily needs from her home while the singer has only occasional visits.

Alexer accused Harrysong of persistent harassment and frustration since she refused to reconcile and return to the marriage. She claimed he has interfered in her life, including unannounced visits and efforts to pressure her through legal means, such as a recent petition containing what she described as false claims.

“I have had enough,” she said in the video. “I am going to give him custody for now. That doesn’t mean I won’t come back for my children.” She emphasized her intention to fight for them again when the time is right, noting the children’s young ages make the situation particularly painful.

Alexer expressed concerns about the children’s well-being under their father’s care, alleging he is often absent and that they would primarily be looked after by domestic staff. “Nothing should happen to my children,” she warned, adding, “I’m not backing down, but I need to find my life since you said you can take care of them very well.”

The couple’s marital troubles first became public in early 2024, with Alexer declaring herself a “free woman” by January 2025 amid accusations and counter-accusations on social media. The ongoing dispute has involved claims of co-parenting failures, emotional abuse, and legal battles.

Neither Harrysong nor his representatives have publicly responded to the video at the time of this report.

The situation underscores the challenges many face in high-profile separations involving child custody.

The Alaafin of Oyo’s palace has defended the recent installation of a new Baale by one of the monarch’s wives, describing it as fully in line with established traditions.

According to a statement from the palace, the installation of Alhaji Chief Oyedokun Sulaiman Akinade as the Baale of Ona-Aka community in Oyo town by Ayaba Abiwunmi Owoade, wife of the Alaafin, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, is valid and follows long-standing Oyo chieftaincy customs.

The palace spokesperson emphasized that Oyo tradition permits an Ayaba (queen) to preside over the installation of a Baale when directed by the Kabiyesi (the Alaafin). This practice is not new and aligns with historical precedents in the kingdom.

During the ceremony held at the ancient Alaafin Palace, Ayaba Abiwunmi Owoade counseled the new Baale to prioritize building strong networks rooted in trust and respect. She urged him to foster a sense of belonging and community identity, bridge gaps between groups, promote inclusivity, and prevent divisions that could spark internal conflicts.

The Ayaba also charged the new community head to act as an arbitrator in household and community disputes, maintain unflinching loyalty to the Alaafin, and encourage cooperation among residents for the overall progress and development of Ona-Aka.

The crowning has drawn mixed reactions, with some questioning the optics in the social media era, while others noted that similar installations by royal wives occurred in the past (including during the reign of the late Alaafin Lamidi Adeyemi III), though less publicly visible before widespread digital coverage.

The palace reaffirms that such delegations reflect the structured roles within the Oyo royal household and do not deviate from cultural norms. The installation underscores ongoing efforts to uphold Yoruba traditions while promoting peace, unity, and community advancement under the current Alaafin’s reign.
