Oyo State’s health sector is experiencing significant progress due to strategic policies implemented by the state government, according to Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, the Commissioner for Health. Speaking on Thursday, July 3, 2025, Ajetunmobi highlighted achievements such as enhanced primary healthcare, increased immunization coverage, and a reduction in brain drain among healthcare professionals, attributing these gains to deliberate policy reforms.
In recent statements shared via platforms like X, Ajetunmobi outlined the state’s focus on strengthening health financing and fostering partnerships with government agencies, the private sector, and development partners to build a sustainable, people-centered health system. Key initiatives include reducing maternal mortality and upgrading secondary health facilities across Oyo State.
The Commissioner also stressed that these policies have curbed the departure of healthcare workers, a persistent challenge in Nigeria’s health sector. “Our policies have improved the health sector and reduced brain drain,” Ajetunmobi stated, as reported by @praiseboy01, highlighting improved working conditions and incentives for medical professionals. Looking ahead, Ajetunmobi revealed plans to further modernize healthcare infrastructure and expand services, as shared by @IamPrinceTunji on X platform.
These efforts aim to solidify Oyo State’s position as a leader in healthcare delivery in Nigeria. With a commitment to inclusivity and efficiency, particularly through women’s leadership in health, the Commissioner expressed optimism about creating lasting impacts for Oyo State residents.
With these reforms gaining traction, Oyo State’s health sector is set to experience sustained growth, serving as a blueprint for other states to follow in tackling healthcare issues.
